Ashley’s dad turned to the police officer. “What about it, officer? May I have my daughter back now?”
“We’ll need to fill out some forms, then your daughter will be free to go.”
“Great.” Her dad abruptly stood and followed the officer to the door, waving at someone from down the hallway. “She’s in here. Come and wait with her while I go sign papers.”
“Sure. No problem,” a deep voice said. Wondering who her dad was talking to, Ashley stood. A ghost from her past walked through the door, and her mouth fell open. Standing before her in all his white-toothed, well-muscled, and tawny-eyed splendor was none other than football quarterback Collin Nichols, his thick dark brown hair hidden under a baseball cap. It couldn’t be. Wasn’t he was serving his mission in New York? “Collin? What are you doing here?”
This was the last thing she remembered before everything went black.
